The above is a portrait of me and my van drawn by Anne & Katherine of Rhyl, given to me along with this framed portrait of three doggies.

I have never met Carmen but I know her mummy, they live in the Netherlands. Click on Carmen's drawing to see what her mummy does.

Last week, Sara of Family fashions, Denbigh, a very friendly helper of the local Rotaract Club, invited me to buy a ticket to support their 'Christmas Carol Extravaganza staged on Friday, December 6.

I finished work early that day in order to pop in for five minutes to see if I knew any of the singers.

Almost three hours later I had had the best evening in ages.
I recognised just about every little one on stage as my customers. They are the youngsters I see every day. Some even leave a nice warm house to come out just to say hello.

My little customers, always so happy to see me what- ever the weather. They were all there on stage, all scrubbed-up and shiny, singing their little hearts out. It was brilliant. From the tiny tots of Ysgol Gwaenynog in their wonderful fancy dress to the angelic perfection of Howell's School harmonising, every school choir was tremendous.

As I am recognised by very few without my disguise of a loud and brightly painted ice cream van, I would like all the little ones to know I was out there watching and listening; with a big smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Thanks and well done kids. You were brill. And well done to Rotaract on getting all the schools together. Derek Walker (Degs), 7 Llys A******ia, Denbigh.
